  • 42 The Calls∨ ∧

    Client: JJW Hotels and Resorts
Description: Conversion of an 18th Century Corn mill into a 4* boutique hotel
    Location: Leeds City Centre

42 The Calls hotel in Leeds city centre is a 4* boutique hotel with 41 rooms, cleverly converted from 18th Century corn mill overlooking the River Aire. Many original features of the old mill are retained in the rooms, such as oak beams and the large mill windows with shutters. The quirky and luxurious feel of the rooms is achieved by the bespoke furniture, designed by Thuja Design, which has a contemporary style but made with traditional materials to match the features of the mill.

  • Outdoor Adventure∨ ∧

    Client: Outdoor Adventure
Description: Refurbishment of the offices and communal spaces at a residential activity centre
    Location: Widemouth Bay, Cornwall

With the spectacular backdrop of the Cornish coast, it is no wonder that Outdoor Adventure has attracted a wide client base for the past 15 years. However they needed a little help in creating an environment that was fun and stimulating, whilst still being comfortable and cosy after a long day surfing the waves. Thuja Design recognised that the office needed a facelift, with bold colours and more storage, and also designed some graphic artwork to be used in various locations throughout the building. The refurbishment is an ongoing scheme, due for completion in late 2013.

  • Rhinefield House∨ ∧

    Client: Handpicked Hotels
Description: Part refurbishment of 24 hotel rooms and 3 suites in “one of the Grandest New Forest Hotels”
    Location: The New Forest, Hampshire

With over 50 bedrooms, Rhinefield House was built in 1887, and has a glorious mix of Tudor and Gothic Architectural influences in its design. The design of the rooms had to reflect the opulence and luxury of the exterior of the building, whilst maintaining the traditional features of a historic country house, and blending these with a modern and comfortable feel. Thuja Design’s involvement in the project was to create the bespoke designs for the fine quality, contemporary furnishings, such as sleigh beds and leather clad wardrobes, to achieve this. Each room is different but all are finished to the highest possible standard.

  • The Royal Oak∨ ∧

    Client: The Royal Oak
Description: Renovation of a country pub
    Location: Gretton, Cheltenham

The Royal Oak in Gretton, Gloucestershire enlisted Thuja Design’s to help with a substantial renovation to turn it into a sophisticated but cosy place for locals and people from afar to enjoy. Thuja Design also recognised the potential for bringing the spectacular surroundings into the pub. The challenge was to give the Lounge Bar and Restaurant a contemporary interior and expertly combine that with the traditional features of a lovely old Cotswold building. The addition of the conservatory offers beautiful views over the wonderful Cotswold landscape and in the far distance the Vale of Evesham and the Malvern Hills. And the antlers? We didn’t shoot them, honest!
